Iam est hora surgere a sompno mortis pravo.
Cur intumescere quearis. Ut quid peccuniam quearis. Quid vestes pomposas geris. Ut quid honores quearis. Cur non paenitens confiteris. Contra proximum non laeteris. (in Llibre Vermell de Montserrat, 1399) | .. |

“Within a sound body should exist a sound spirit” is an old Japanese adage. Creative director for the Tokyo-based label Visvim he founded some years ago, Hiroki Nakamura (formerly at Burton Snowboards) wondered if there also should exist a sound spirit within a sound product. The answer is no. It is only a product. So although there is no spirit, the product can reflect spirit. And culture as well. In a way, it behaves like a mirror. He held this philosophy for shoes, as shoes happen to be daily tools : “Since most of us are no longer walking on soft grass, moss, or other natural grounds, footwear is probably the most important piece of equipment that we make use of in our life. So they have to perform comfortably, be made of the nicest and high-tech materials available nowadays and still look great.”
